National Education Show 2007
I took my Assembly Bag with a smile on my face. The Assembly Bag was the bag of the National Day Parade in 2007. It was special as its size is changeable. We were attending the rehearsal of the National Day Parade. The National Day Parade is to commemorate Singapore’s independence.
I was lucky as this year’s National Parade was in Marina Bay, on a floating platform. The platform is the biggest platform. After collecting the National Day Parade bag, we (primary 5 pupils) went to the canteen to collect our dinner. We went to the foyer to wait for the bus.
While waiting for the bus, we pulled out the things in our bag or put batteries in the star clappers’ and electric fan. The electric fan had wordings on the blades. The words were made by lights. Not long after, the bus came. We entertained ourselves in the bus.
Soon, we reached the Marina Bay. It was crowded with people, mostly students. We walked a long distance and climbed flights of stairs before reaching the seating gallery. However, it was worth it.
My favourite was the finale and the fireworks. The fireworks were glorious. The fireworks came from three different directions. Cameras were flashing, the screams of joy were deafening. The finale was when all the performers were flashing their star clappers on the floating platform. I was awed by how the platform carried so many people. Not long after, the parade ended. We left reluctantly.
It was so enjoyable that I wish I could go again. I threw away a bag which was for us to throw our rubbish. It was going to be sent for a lucky draw. There were six numbers on a sticker which we were suppose to paste on the plastic bag. We were suppose to keep the other portion of the sticker which we can use to claim the lucky draw prizes.
We took the same route back to the bus. We were tired by the time we reached the school. Well, all good things must come to an end.

Teacher's Day Concert
Finally, for the finale, there will be a comedy act. Two boys wearing wigs and cheongsam were acting like girls. They were dancing like girls too! This item made everybody laughed. They were also so comical. They sang in a squeaky voice. My spectacles almost cracked. As they danced they knocked into each other. BONG!!! Teachers and students thought if was part of the play and started laughing uncontrollably, louder than before.
However, it was not part of the show. They started crying. When they got offstage, they felt very embarrassed. Everyone thought they did a good job making people laugh.
The master of ceremony came on stage telling everybody that it was just an act. Everybody clapped even louder. The show was a success.
"5.10 stand, go back to your classroom, 5.9 stand..." Mrs Lim said.
We got back to the classroom and threw away the rubbish on the floor. and cleaned up the room. Mrs Fong walked around the classroom inspecting everywhere. Then she dismissed us. We went home filled with happy memories.

A trip to the hospital
"Yes, I am Hui Yee. What? My sister is involved in an accident and is at the Changi Hospital?" I cried with teardrops streaming down my cheeks.
I also felt a lump in my throat. I recalled how kind my sister, Sin Yee, was towards me. How she gave in to me all the time. I closed all the windows as quickly as I could and rushed out of the house. I did not take my car's key as I did not want to drive in such a state of mind.My face was puffy and swollen from all the crying. I took a cab to the hospital. I pulled out a ten dollar note and passed it to the driver asking him to keep the change.
I took the lift up to the tenth floor and walked to ward twenty-eight. My mind was filled with anxiety. The person who spoke to me about Sin Yee's condition. As soon as I stepped into the ward, I spotted Sin Yee instantly as I recognised the way she was laying down. Fortunately, she was conscious and had mild injury to her arm and leg. I heaved a sigh of relief. I started asking her what had happened to her.
"I was crossing the road when the green man lit up, when a motorcycle ignored my presence and hit me..." Sin Yee answered with an unhappy look on her face.
Just then a policeman walked into the ward towards our direction. I guessed that he wanted to take statements. I was indeed right. He asked Sin Yee several questions .
When the policeman was about to leave, I noticed that there were many people in the ward. Many had broken their arms and legs. Some of them looked like they are recovering. I also saw a doctor attending to a patient. I realised that I was so concerned about my sister that I was not aware of the surroundings. At that moment the police bade us goodbye.
Three hours later, at five o'clock, I bade goodbye to my sister and left the hospital . I felt relieved and kept on thanking God that that accident did not cause a life to be lost. My eyes were not puffy or sore anymore. I vowed that I will be careful in whatever I do. I definitely do not want to hit someone while driving.
